About me

 

“Hi! I’m Janet, the founder of Pink. I started Pink Cosmetics in 2014 and as a single mom, I had no external funding or financial backing. Instead, I relied on my resourcefulness, hard work, dedication, and a passion for creating gentle and safe cosmetics for my two young daughters.

I taught myself the art and science of cosmetics formulation, utilising free online resources, industry forums, and local workshops. Initially I started small, making products in my kitchen with minimal equipment and materials that I could afford from my own savings. 

Profits made were reinvested back into the business, gradually improving the quality and scale of my production. I kept operating costs low by working from home, using free marketing channels like social media, and handling all aspects of the business myself, from formulation to packaging to sales.

Engaging directly with customers allowed me to refine my products based on their feedback, ensuring a high level of satisfaction and loyalty. Over time, Pink Cosmetics grew a loyal customer base and established itself as a trusted brand in the South African beauty market.

I am not your standard beauty brand owner.

I don’t order samples from a catalogue at a lab and I choose colours or serums based on trends or what's appealing to me. 

I dream up all of my products, out of a desire to make a difference and really help the problems my treasured clients are dealing with - from hyperpigmentation to ageing & acne. 

I research, investigate, experiment and source ingredients from all over the world. I formulate, create, test and do it all over again to make sure the product I have imagined is exactly what I wanted it to be or better. This way I ensure that only the freshest and best quality ingredients are sourced. Each product is made ethically, with love, good intentions and to be the best it can be in its category, all made locally. 

By tapping into my intuition and maintaining integrity with the desire to help, I believe our range is incredible, and beautiful both inside and outside.
